McLaren Vale

McLaren Vale is one of Australia’s renowned wine regions, famous for producing some of the best wines in the world, available for sampling at over 76 cellar doors. The region’s Mediterranean climate provides an ideal environment for the production of outstanding quality fruit, with Shiraz and Grenache comprising the major plantings. In addition, a number of newer Spanish and Italian varieties, including Sangiovese and Alberino, are growing in popularity.

Kangaroo Island is South Australia’s newest wine region with around 30 growers and over 200 hectares of vines. The island’s temperate climate ensures prolonged fruit ripening, providing strong varietal flavours and intense colours.

Currency Creek is located 80kms south of Adelaide, adjacent to the Southern Ocean and Lake Alexandrina. The maritime climate provides ideal growing conditions with a mean January temperature of 18.5 degrees C, ensuring prolonged ripening. There are over 440 hectares under vines, the main varieties including Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Merlot and Chardonnay.

The Southern Fleurieu wine region enjoys mild summers, again providing ideal growing and ripening conditions. There are over 150 hectares of vines, including Shiraz, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot.
