McLaren Vale

Richard Leask is an authority on regenerative farming for growers in South Australia and comes with a wealth of experience, that includes taking on the Nuffield Scholarship, which saw him travel the world in search of sustainable approaches to bring back to home soil. He’s as knowledgeable as he is passionate about protecting the land for future generations, and his own vineyard is a breeding ground ripe for putting new ideas in practice. Richard and his brother Malcolm, have been growing their own label ‘Hither & Yon’ for the past decade, putting their best foot forward to adapt to the changing climate for more sustainable vines and better wines.

Our family motto is “by virtue, I grow” - we don’t want to be fashionable, we just want to see what is possible. Rooted in the love for our earth, our passion is to make wines that go down easy for how scarce they are.

Richard & Malcolm Leask
We were bred into wine. Firstly, of our birth place in the Hunter Valley, and now, home is McLaren Vale after Mum & Dad acquired their first patch here in 1980.
Since then, together, we have been able to group a selection of vineyards spread across this wonderful region, between hills & sea, under our own family estate.
We are the Brothers Leask. Richard is the outside man, farmer and maker; Malcolm is the inside guy, director and creator. What started as our “bottle project” in 2011 has now endured and sprouted into our much-loved wine brand.
If you are new to our path, let’s have fun along the way, make some memories, come with us hither & yon.

Leask Agri
Leask Agri is a family primary production and agricultural management business, at home on the Fleurieu Peninsula, South Australia.
The Leask Clan motto is 'by virtue, I grow', and this is how we farm our land, with care and creativity, always striving for the best produce from paddock to plate, or vine to table.
Our vision is for a sustainable, balanced life based on improving our land for the next generation of family & friends.
We aim to continuously improve our resource through retention, recycling, creating linkages and biodiversity, and environmental stewardship.
In doing so we use our experience to do what’s best for our land depending on season and market, there are no recipes and we trust our instincts, fully understanding nature is random – it helps relax us.
