Kimbolton Wines https://www.kimboltonwines.com.au/ Brother and sister duo Brad Case and Nicole Clark are carrying the mantle for Kimbolton Wines as fifth generation growers of the Case family, based at Langhorne Creek. Steeped in history, the family bloodline has been pumping through Langhorne Creek since 1850 and Brad and Nicole have big shoes to fill, having taken over operations from their parents, Len and Judy. Succession goes hand in hand with family business and figuring out how it's all going to work can be the source of a lot of angst. There's more than one way to pass the torch and plenty to think about in the attempt to keep everyone happy while keeping business ticking over. Brad and Nicole know they're standing on the shoulders of giants and they're working together to realise their own unique vision for the future. The original vineyard (known as Kimbolton) on the alluvial Langhorne Creek floodplain today consists of approximately 18ha with varieties of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, and Montepulciano. Currently, the oldest vines planted on the Kimbolton Vineyards were replanted in 1966, which is the House Block Shiraz adjacent to the cellar door. The Montrose property in Langhorne Creek was acquired in 2001 and was originally only 14.8 hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. Today the vineyard has grown and undergone numerous plantings to include alternative varieties, such as, Carignan, Malbec, and Fiano, with the total plantings being 43ha. |
