James Meyer is the Vineyard Manager for Hill River Wines in the Polish Hill River sub-region of the Clare Valley and also operates his own vineyard in the district. With over 30 years of experience across three distinctly different regions — Sunraysia, Barossa, and Clare — James brings a wealth of practical knowledge and insight to his role.
He has contributed extensively to the wine and horticulture industries through involvement on several committees, including:

Presumptive Clare Representative on the Wine Grape Council of South Australia
Victorian & Murray Valley Wine Grape Growers Council (10 years)
Robinvale & District Grape Growers Association (14 years)
James’s broad experience across multiple regions provides him with a balanced perspective on the challenges and opportunities facing the industry. He is passionate about seeing the Clare Valley thrive and continue to grow as a leading destination for fine wine and regional excellence.
James was elected to the Wine Grape Council of SA in October 2025.
