Helen Strickland Region Six: Bordertown, Mt Benson, Mt Gambier, Padthaway, Robe, Wrattonbully & Limestone Coast
Helen joins WGCSA as the Limestone Coast representative. Originally from the mid north of SA, Helen has a long history of engagement in the Limestone Coast community with business, education and community organisations. She is currently President of the Limestone Coast Grape and Wine Council, Independent Chair of the SouthEastern Professional Fishermen’s Association and Chair of the Mount Gambier Community Bank Board (Bendigo Bank). Helen brings strategic planning, governance, critical thinking and leadership skills and experience to the position.
Helen and husband Terry first planted vines at Caroline Hills outside Mount Gambier in 1988 and now manage a small vineyard of predominantly Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris vines. Their grapes are sold into Coonawarra, McLaren Vale and the Adelaide Hills, with a small amount kept for their own label, which they make on the property. They also have Murray Grey cattle and are strongly committed to improvement of their property through sustainable practices.
