Sending your grapes interstate

Regulations for grapes moving from SA to Victoria and NSW

Fruit being shipped to Victorian wineries that are located in the Greater Sunraysia Pest Free Area (Mildura, Robinvale, Swan Hill see map) require certification or an ICA-33 and a Plant Health Assurance Certificate. If you aren’t already accredited contact Biosecurity SA (8207 7814) at least 3 weeks before the shipment is due to leave.

Certification or ICA-33 is not required for grapes going to Victorian wineries located outside the Greater Sunraysia Pest Free Area; however a ‘complying  cartnote’ (see below) must accompany the shipment.

Grapes going to NSW wineries do not require certification or ICA-33, however a ‘complying  cartnote’ (see below) must accompany the shipment.

All shipments must be transported with precautions to prevent spillage.

Complying cartnotes

A ‘complying cartnote’ must include the following information:
  • Name and physical address of receiving winery;
  • Grower’s name, contact details and physical address of the property on which the grapes were grown;
  • Variety of the grapes;
  • Quantity of grapes that are being supplied to the winery;
  • The name and signature of signatory; and
  • Date document signed.

WGCSA sells books of delivery dockets for use by growers and winemakers, that meet the requirements for complying cartnotes. Find out more.
