The Primary Producers South Australia (PPSA) Transport Committee has recently appointed Sami Gilligan as the wine grape grower representative. PPSA Transport Committee is Chaired by Rob Kerin and includes 5 members from varying agricultural sectors including grains, horticulture, viticulture and dairy. The Committee charter it is to facilitate efficiencies in commodity freight. It has been regularly noted that laws and regulations can have adverse effects on the logistics of primary producers. The Committee will have access and opportunity to meet with regulatory bodies including Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) and the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator to assess regulations and laws and how they affect transport providers, primary producers and the general public. The PPSA Transport Committee offers an advocacy role to ensure a more efficient and effective transport and supply chain for primary producers. The appointment of Sami Gilligan offers an additional perspective and skill base to the Committee, with more than 18 years of running various businesses – including a transport business – within the wine industry. Sami is looking forward to sharing innovative ideas and passions in his role. “I’m really looking forward to being a part of this Committee. It combines a few different passions of mine; big machines and looking at ways to increase efficiency in Australian agriculture,” said Mr Gilligan. “I enjoy and take great fulfilment in being part of industry organisations – I currently sit on the Board of McLaren Vale Grape Wine & Tourism Association and recently finished my tenure on the Board of Wine Grape Council of South Australia.” Sami can be contacted on 0417 738 829 or [email protected] Comments are closed.
